A magical winter engagement session among the snow dusted pines
I’ll never get over the excitement of meeting up with my wedding couples for the first time for their engagement session! Sydney and Sean seriously have one of the most amazing, completely meant to be love stories I’ve ever heard. “We met at Arches National Park in the summer of 2021 after we had both just graduated college. Sean grew up on the east coast and was road tripping to WA where his new job was and I (Sydney) grew up in WA but was road tripping just for fun and to explore and learn more about myself. We both happened to be at Arches on the same day, doing the same hike. I got lost on the way up and he just happened to be at the top when I finally found my way there. He offered to take a photo of me (not knowing I had just been lost for almost 2 hours) and then suggested we hike down together, which I appreciated since I didn’t know where the trail was lol. We talked the whole way down and got each other’s contact info and then kept in touch until we were both in Seattle. We hung out once I got back and the rest is history”. I mean come ON. How cool is that?!
These two are now planning a beautiful wedding just outside of Mt. Rainier later this year with private vows in the park to experience the best of both worlds of an adventurous elopement and more traditional wedding surrounded by family (I cannot wait!). Being true to their adventurous spirits, I put together a list of locations I felt best fit their vision. Ultimately they landed on my favorite forested campsite in my hometown of Granite Falls, Washington. I was an avid adventurer and hiker before I even picked up a camera so you can trust that I am full of unique, off the beaten path locations that I’ve spent years scouting to ensure each location will feel completely personal and tailored to you.
I met Syd and Sean in town so they could follow me out to our location. This is something I’ll have my couples do if I know we’ll be out of cell service to ensure no one gets lost or nervous along the way! I loaded up my go to playlist and we were on our way, cruising along the winding highway. The weather was much chiller than we anticipated when we arrived so we spend the session warming up by running through the trees, dancing down by the river and curling up on a picnic blanket. We had the best time connecting, laughing, chatting about their upcoming wedding day and just spending time together among the quiet forest canopy.
